AlbaSIM is a research group on serious games at the Institute for Information and Communication Technology (IICT) at the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD), University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO).
Institute for Information and Communication Technologies (IICT)
The IICT's mission is applied research and services delivery in the field of ICT. IICT facilitates technology transfer to the industrial and the service sector and supports the creation of new businesses. IICT is member of regional and supra-regional networks such as RCSO-ITC and ICT-Net.
School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD)
HEIG-VD provides tertiary education in business and engineering. With 1600 students, HEIG-VD is the largest partner school of the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland.
University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO)
A vast reservoir of skills, ideas, innovations, creativity and knowledge, the HES-SO is keen to play a major role in the socio-economic development of the country, and is proud of the fresh impetus it is able to give to Western Switzerland. Opened in 1997, the HES-SO is the largest professional higher education network in Switzerland. It currently hosts some 17’200 students.

AlbaSIM is developing the WEGAS project in collaboration with the Haute Ecole Arc (HE-Arc), which intends to develop a web-based game authoring system that will facilitate the development of learning activities by teachers. The Wegas project is funded by the Réseau de Compétences de Suisse occidentale en technologies de l'information et de la communication (RCSO-TIC).
HEC Lausanne
In cooperation with the HEC Lausanne, i.e. the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Lausanne, we conduct research on the use of serious games and simulations in large classes with more than 100 students.

AlbaSIM's team is participating in the development of CrimeSim, a crime scene investigation simulation that will be used in lecture at the School of Criminal Justice.
